How do I complete my administrative registration?

The forms may seem unclear and not relevant to your situation. Read more here

Not to worry. If you get stuck, you can contact the Doctoral Information & Registration Office. And know that we can always change your forms if you make a mistake.

What if I don't want to pay the student social security fee ?

It's non-negotiable. If you meet the conditions for having to pay, you must pay. See the "Registration fees and social security" section

What is a certificate of civil liability?

A required document

The UPMC leadership decided to require this document, not to manage or control students' lives, but to protect them.
In short, you cannot register without it.

What it's not

It's not your social security insurance. It's not insurance included in your employment contract. It's not personal liability insurance. It's not a certificate that expires during the year.

Where can I find it?

It's often included in your home or rental insurance policy. Note: not your lease, your insurance policy! You should contact your insurance company so it can provide you with a document stating "2016/2017 certificate of civil liability covering university activities".

"But I'm in a hurry, and that will take forever!"
No, it won't! It only takes a few minutes. Call your insurance company, and if it's included in your policy, you'll receive the document in just a few seconds by email.

"My policy renews in March, so I can't provide you the document."

Yes, you can! Just contact your insurance company, who can give you an in-school and out-of-school certificate for 2016/2017, even if your policy will renew in March or later.

"I have a certificate of personal liability insurance."
Contact your insurance company to see if university activities are included in your insurance policy. If so, ask that it be stated on your certificate. If not, see the following question.

"My insurer doesn't want to." / "I don't have it. It's not included in my insurance policy."
You still need it. Contact the insurer of your choice (LMDE, smerep, Axa, your bank, etc.). It costs between 20 and 40 euros depending on the insurer.

I have questions about my Degree.

Where do I find my registration number?

You don't have one if you've never registered at UPMC. You'll create one the first time you log into e-scolarité.

If you are already a student at UPMC, you can find the 7-digit number on your student card.

Are the doctoral school and doctoral information & registration office the same thing?

There are lots of doctoral schools at the Doctoral Education Institute but only one Doctoral Information & Registration Office.

You apply for a doctorate and register for courses at the doctoral school, then you complete the administrative procedures related to your university registration and thesis defense at the Doctoral Information & Registration Office.
