When do training schedules become available?

The first semester training schedule becomes available in the month of July. The second semester training schedule becomes available in the month of November.

What do I do if I don't receive a confirmation email for the training?

If your doctoral school approved the training on your Individual Training Program, check that you correctly entered your email address on the registration form. If the email address is incorrect, please contact med-formations @ listes.upmc.fr to change your address. If not, check your spam folder. Your request may also be being processed if you recently completed the form. If your doctoral school did not approve the training on your Individual Training Program, you will receive a pre-registration email for the training and not a registration confirmation.

How do I register for training?

Please visit the Sorbonne University website, which explains the Individual Training Program and online registration procedure

Will I be paid for training? If so, who will cover the cost?

Some training courses are paid, and the cost is stated on the Individual Training Program. The doctoral school or laboratory covers the cost of the training. All Individual Training Programs approved by the doctoral school are sent to the Training & Careers Department.

Can I get a certificate for training courses?

Certificates for training courses are not issued automatically. You must request one by sending an email to med-formations @ listes.upmc.fr. You will be sent the certificate by email. Please allow time for your request to be processed.

How long does my individual training program (ITP) remain valid?

The ITP remains valid for the duration of your doctorate. However, you can update it once a year or more frequently by downloading it online (Individual Training Program) and adding the training courses you are interested in taking. The approval procedure remains the same.

What do I do if I included a training on my Itp but did not receive a registration email?

When your ITP is approved, your doctoral school emails it to med-formations @ listes.upmc.fr and generally copies you on the email. At that point, you can then complete the registration forms online. Emails inviting students to attend training courses or indicating an event are only sent occasionally. You must consult the training schedule to see all of the training courses offered and their corresponding dates.

Are seminars mandatory?

Seminars explain how a training programme works. They are important to understanding the training courses.

I can't attend training in the first semester. will the same training courses be offered in the second semester?

Training courses offered in the first semester are also offered in the second semester, with a few exceptions: History of Science (year-long course, one day a week); International Negotiation (offered only in the second semester); Doctoriales, Creativity workshops, and My Thesis in 180 Seconds are all offered once a year. Scientific Writing and Business English are offered only in the second semester.

How many hours of training must i complete?

When you create your Individual Training Program (ITP), you should draw from all available training courses (those in your doctoral school, in the Training & Careers Department, those specifically open to lecturers, and even outside training opportunities). However, the exact amount of training you should complete is not the same for everyone. In general, the Training & Careers Department recommends completing 5 to 10 days a year of all types of training combined (scientific, "cross-cutting", specific to a doctoral mission). If you are a lecturer, you should prioritize training for that mission (and complete the lecturer training courses). Your doctoral school can inform you if it wants you to complete a specific number of hours of training.

If my doctoral school did not approve the training course I want to take, can I still participate?

No. You can only attend training courses approved by your doctoral school. In the event of a disagreement, please contact your school's administrator.

I want to attend a workshop but it has a pre-requisite. Can I attend anyway?

Certain workshops have pre-requisites (other workshops). Please keep that in mind when you create your Individual Training Program. Pre-requisites are put in place to allow you to get the most out of the workshop and receive better-quality training.

Can I attend a lecturer training course?

Yes. Lecturer training courses are recommended on lecturers' Individual Training Programs but are not exclusive. Even if you are not a lecturer, you can still register by completing the registration form.

ARE seminars mandatory for independant training modules?

No. As their name indicates, independent training modules are independent of the training program with which they are associated. They have only a topic and a sub-topic.

Who can I contact if I did not find the answer to my question in the FAq?

You can send an email to med-formations @ listes.upmc.fr or call 01 44 27 82 16/14.
